Places to visit in South-West England

The Cotswolds include places such as Bath, Tewkesbury, Cheltenham and Gloucester as well as market towns, hundreds of little villages and wide open spaces.  The area refers to gentle hill country and is England’s largest “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty” and of course the Cotswolds is known to be ‘Typically English’.

There are so many things to do and see in the area including: Museums and galleries, Gloucester Cathedral and Docks, Churches, walking, hiking and cycling, exploring little towns and villages, shopping, or attending one of the many events held throughout the year.

The Cotswolds has a truly great selection of restaurants and pubs and you will find something to suit all tastes and styles.

Cotswold Water Park offers 40 square miles of watery options for all types of water sports; 74 fishing lakes and nearly 100 miles of pathways, bridleways and cycleways.
Places of interest in the Cotswolds include:

  • Blenheim PalaceWorld – a World Heritage Site and birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.
  • The Model Village – a replica in local stone of one of the Cotswolds most beautiful villages.
  • Westonbirt Arboretum – over 18 000 trees, set in 600 acres of Cotswold countryside. There are over 17 miles of paths along which to walk.
  • Roman Baths - one of the finest religious spas of the ancient world.

There are also many gardens and parks to explore with Hidcote Manor Garden, near Chipping Campden, and Snowshill Manor, near Broadway being the most well known.
