The Lake District

Places to visit in North-West England

The Lake District is a national park which stretches for over 885 square miles and consists of a series of expansive lakes and rocky mountains and really is a beautiful area of England. Situated in Cumbria, and made up of green valleys, rolling farmlands and little villages.  The Lake District attracts over 12 million visitors a year however don’t let this put you off as it remains peaceful.  The area is great for walking and hiking.

The Windermere, Grasmere and Ullswater are considered the prettiest of the lakes but if you want to avoid the crowds then we suggest you head to the following lakes: Wast Water, Crummock Water or Buttermere.

The Lake District is home to England’s Highest peak – Scafell Pike (3 209ft). There is a range of activities which include walking, hiking, cycling, bird watching, lake cruises, shopping, galleries, museums and water sports.

There really is something for everyone.  There is also a wide range of accommodation in the Lake District to suit all budgets.
