Hogmanay - Edinburgh

Probably one of the most popular New Year celebrations across the whole of the UK takes place in the wonderful city of Edinburgh. Every year over 100,000 people take to the streets of Edinburgh to celebrate Hogmanay and the festive season over four days - December 29th to January 2nd . This festival of fun provides a host of entertainment for all the family to enjoy. The festival kicks off with a huge Torchlight Procession which snakes its way from the Royal Mile to Carlton Hill through the city streets creating a stream of fire with up to 25,000 people taking part.

Music is a big theme for the festival and over the years we have seen top acts such as Scissor Sisters, Blondie, Kasabian and Groove Armada perform to massive crowds on the stages set up in the centre of Edinburgh. Top DJ's also entertain the party crowds creating a unique atmosphere. And then as the clock strikes midnight on the 31st December a huge fireworks display kicks off filling the sky over Edinburgh's famous Castle.

The entertainment continues on New Years Day with another full day of events and activities. This year sees Madness return to Edinburgh for the first time in 15 years as they headline the Concert in the Gardens. Madness who have had many hits over the years will guarantee to put you in a party mood. Madness will be supported by the Noisettes who have had an extremely successful year with their album "Wild Young Hearts". In addition The Enemy will headlin the Hogmanay Street Party supported by a number of top new Scottish talent. MYLO and Calvin Harris guarantee to ensure the evening is full of dance for all the younger audience.
