North West Ireland
The North West
The North West region of Ireland provides visitors with a real mix of things to do. The landscape here provides great opportunities for outdoor pursuits such as hiking, hill walking and other sporting activities. From Donegal, to the North, to the counties of Sligo, Leitrim, Monaghan and Cavan the area is mostly made up of smaller towns and villages representing the idyllic Irish way of life. Indeed in the pubs and streets of
Donagal you can still hear the ancient Irish language spoken. There is a real sense of history here with many megalithic monuments, some predating Christianity by thousands of years, to be found here including the ancient ring fort of the O'Neills with its spectacular commanding views over the hills of Donegal. These hills and those of Sligo provide ideal hill-walking for experts and beginners alike enabling you to escape,
within a short walk, the hustle and bustle of town living. Ireland is a beautiful country for walking whether in a group or on your own.
As well as the perfect outdoor living the North West has some excellent seafood restaurants capitalising on the excellent fishing available. If you get the chance try and catch the sight of the fishing fleet returning to Killybegs - its wonderful. Of course Ireland is just as famous for its river and lake fishing and this area, especially Cavan and Monaghan, provide the opportunity to catch a variety of fish. The North West, like most of Ireland, offers a friendly welcome to all and assures you of a warm reception wherever you come from. This really is a great place to recharge your batteries.
